The Remarkable Story of Chicken Little

The Remarkable Story of Chicken Little is a tone poem for solo marimba and live-electronics. Each of the story’s characters (Chicken Little, Hen Pen, Duck Luck, Goose Loose, Turkey Lurkey, and Fox Lox) are portrayed with different motifs that are layered upon each other via precisely timed looping effects. The marimba soloist controls the loops using a midi-footboard, allowing him or her to trigger the playback of each excerpt.

Many thanks to Matthew Kilby, who premiered the work, for his efforts in learning to play marimba and electronics simultaneously!

Score and parts are available upon request.
